Spectacles Community Challenge #15: Winners Announcement
What can Spectacles do? With the right Developers, just about anything.
From entertainment and sports to learning, productivity, and beyond, Developers around the world are constantly exploring what’s possible with Spectacles – connected by a shared passion for innovation and the excitement of building something new.
Every Spectacles Community Challenge is an opportunity to push that exploration further: experiment with new ideas, build on existing projects, sharpen your skills, and share your work with a community that can take it even further.
And there’s more at stake than just the challenge. Winners compete for a share of the $66,000 prize pool, with prizes of up to $14,000. Worth it? We think so. And the winners of July’s Spectacles Community Challenge clearly did too.

New Lens Category
⭐ A category that pushes you to experiment with unfamiliar tools, features, and ideas, turning curiosity into innovation to create new, engaging Lenses.
1st Place: AviaSpy by Inna Horobchuk
AviaSpy tracks nearby aircraft in real time, displaying their position, flight number, altitude, and distance in SPECS. Users can point at a plane to reveal its aircraft model, collectable card, and a custom captain announcement, while a wrist-mounted radar helps locate nearby aircraft.
2nd Place: Spatial Mapper by Kavin Kumar
Spatial Mapper turns Spectacles into a projection mapping tool, letting users trace real-world surfaces with their hands and place, shape, and control AR content directly on them. A companion web app mirrors the experience and drives the projector output.
3rd Place: Catch Up by Nithin Shankar
Catch Up lets users call friends and meet in a shared mixed reality space, where they can interact, hang out, and play multiplayer games together from anywhere in the world.
Runner up: Trail ExplorAR by Steven Wolpe
Trail ExplorAR transforms hiking trails and elevation data into an interactive 3D terrain explorer. Users can explore locations around the world, select trails, view elevation profiles, and move an avatar along routes to preview distances, climbs, and descents.
Runner up: Matterly by the Foursight Team (Grace Park, Sylvan Shen & Seonjeong Park)
Matterly is a spatial learning Lens that lets users scan everyday objects to discover their material stories. It reveals what an object is made of, how it was produced, and where its materials end up, all within the user’s real-world environment.
Lens Update Category
⭐ The Lens Update category invites you to revisit and enhance an already published Lenses, adding new features or refinements to unlock monetization and gain extra visibility.
1st Place: TransitView by Pieter Siekerman
TransitView brings public transport into mixed reality, showing real-time bus positions in the user’s surroundings, even when vehicles are still hidden behind buildings. The Lens currently supports both the Netherlands and Berlin.
2nd Place: ScriberEditor by Arthur Ibanda
ScriberEditor is an open-source word processor for Spectacles with an updated, easier-to-use interface. Users can now type with the Scriber controller or pinch the virtual keyboard, and save or open documents through Google Drive and GitHub.
3rd Place: DartsMate by Liam Mason
DartsMate gets major updates with Scolia integration for automatic dart tracking and a new real-world setup experience. Users can now connect Scolia boards, use spatial anchors to save board placement, switch to manual scoring for any dartboard, and play synchronized multiplayer games across up to four players.
Open Source Category
⭐ This category welcomes open-source Lenses on GitHub, including those using Experimental APIs, giving you the freedom to push boundaries and break new ground without requiring Lens Explorer publication.
1st Place: Dimensional OS AR by Johannes Tscharn
Dimensional OS AR turns Spectacles into an AR interface for robotics and physical AI. Users can control Unitree robots through hand gestures or voice commands, while viewing live LiDAR data in the shared space to see the environment from the robot’s perspective.
2nd Place: Quest2Specs by Amir Mohideen Basheer Khan
Quest2Specs connects Meta Quest controllers with Snap Spectacles, bringing 6DoF spatial input to AR glasses. The Lens includes a virtual drawing tool with adjustable brush thickness, an in-world debugging panel, and particle-based feedback effects, showcasing an alternative to hand tracking for precise spatial interactions.
3rd Place: Unity2Snap by Pratik Mane
Unity2Snap bridges Unity and Lens Studio, allowing developers to export scene layout data from Unity and automatically rebuild the scene hierarchy in Lens Studio. Designed with Spectacles projects in mind, it focuses on transferring scene structure rather than gameplay code.
Time and again, the Spectacles Community Challenges have shown what’s possible when Developers are given the space to experiment, build, and share. They’ve created opportunities for Developers to bring their ideas to life while giving everyone a glimpse into how spatial computing can move beyond innovation for innovation’s sake – making everyday activities simpler, more useful, and more engaging.
