Spectacles Community Challenge #12 showcases the best Spectacles Lenses from April, featuring new builds, major updates, and open-source experiments across AR games, tools, storytelling, and interactive experiences.

It’s time. The winners of the Spectacles Community Challenge #12 are here.

This April edition is a clear showcase of the Spectacles community’s incredible creativity, featuring new builds, major updates, and open-source experiments. From AR storytelling experiences and interactive gameplay concepts to utility-driven tools and experimental systems, each Lens reflects a unique approach to building on Spectacles.

Every month, creators and developers – working solo or together – push new ideas forward, shaping Lenses that are engaging, useful, and full of imagination. They keep the Spectacles ecosystem alive with experiences users can play with, learn from, or rely on in everyday life. And while everything lives in the digital space, there are real-world prizes at stake.

New Lens Category

A category that pushes you to experiment with unfamiliar tools, features, and ideas, turning curiosity into innovation to create new, engaging Lenses.tar

1st Place: Ko-Kwel by University of Oregon Reality Lab

Ko-Kwel: He Carries a Story is an immersive AR narrative experience that explores the impact of the Western Oregon Indian Termination Act through Indigenous storytelling.

Guided by Dr. Jason Younker, former Chief of the Coquille Indian Tribe, the Lens invites users to journey through ancestral homelands and discover the Coquille interpretation of Sasquatch while highlighting the importance of cultural preservation and oral traditions through AR.

2nd Place: Remember by Krunal MB Gediya

Remember is a Spectacles app that transforms everyday moments into searchable memories using AI-powered visual recall. The experience allows users to capture and revisit what they’ve seen through voice commands, helping them remember objects, places, people, and daily activities, while prioritizing privacy through client-side encrypted memory storage.

3rd Place: SlingGolf! By Daria LASTXLR

SligGolf! reimagines golf with a slingshot-based mechanic, challenging players to aim, launch, and sink the ball in as few shots as possible. Designed for Spectacles, the game features 10 progressively difficult levels filled with moving obstacles, traps, and complex paths, while optimized controls and adjustable level positioning ensure a smooth and comfortable gameplay experience.

Runner up: SynthSync by Inna Horobchuk

SynthSync is an asymmetric rhythm game that transforms music into a synchronized full-body workout across Spectacles and mobile. One player acts as the trainer on a phone, sending beat-driven challenges, while the Spectacles wearer dodges, catches, and moves in sync with the rhythm.

Powered by Snap Cloud for real-time synchronization, the experience supports both multiplayer and solo play, combining motion gameplay, music interaction, and dynamic body tracking into a competitive fitness-inspired experience.

Runner up: DOT TO DOT by Sitan Doucara

Dot to Dot is a cozy mixed reality puzzle game that transforms a real sheet of paper into an interactive connect-the-dots experience. Players select a puzzle, trace the pattern with a real pencil, and unlock a colorful animated reveal upon completion, blending tactile drawing with playful AR interaction.

Lens Update Category

The Lens Update category invites you to revisit and enhance an already published Lenses, adding new features or refinements to unlock monetization and gain extra visibility.

1st Place: DGNS Pocket Garage by Guillaume Dagens

DGNS Pocket Garage is an AR car scanner that transforms real vehicles into collectible virtual trading cards while continuously evolving through major feature updates.

Recent improvements include asynchronous card generation and saving for smoother performance, a redesigned UI with animated visuals and better readability, rendering and stability fixes, enforced license plate compliance, and updates to the open-source GitHub project to enhance both player and developer experience.

2nd Place: Word Bubbles by Andrew Douglas

Word Bubbles is a spatial word search game that challenges players to rotate a 3D cube to discover hidden words across a variety of themed levels. Recent updates introduced a fast-paced Mini Mode with a compact 2×2 grid, alongside new customization options unlocked through collectible trophies, additional levels, cleaner UI menus, and multiple gameplay improvements and bug fixes.

3rd Place: TarotPLUS by Inna Horobchuk

TarotPLUS expands the original Tarot Lens for Spectacles with new personalized astrology experiences that blend mysticism, AI, and contextual awareness.

The update introduces Horoscope and Haiku Cookie modes, allowing users to receive tailored horoscopes and poetic fortune-style haikus generated from environmental cues such as location, weather, time, and surroundings, alongside immersive visuals including crystal ball interactions and Bitmoji integration.

Open Source Category

This category welcomes open-source Lenses on GitHub, including those using Experimental APIs, giving you the freedom to push boundaries and break new ground without requiring Lens Explorer publication.

1st Place: Fancy Functions by Sunflovr

Fancy Functions is a Spectacles Lens that connects with a companion macOS app to extend smart utility control across devices. Through this integration, the Lens can trigger desktop actions such as opening applications, adjusting system volume, and executing custom commands, enabling seamless interaction between Spectacles and the user’s macOS environment.

2nd Place: BullsAi – AR Darts Coaching for Spectacles by Liam Mason

BullsAI turns a physical dartboard into an AR-powered coaching and gaming system by combining real-time computer vision with Spectacles overlays.

A companion phone tracks every dart thrown and detects its position instantly, while Spectacles layer coaching feedback, target highlights, and interactive game modes directly onto the real-world board, creating a seamless blend of training, analytics, and gameplay.

3rd Place: SkywriterBLE by David J Kordsmeier

SkywriterBLE is a distraction-free word processor for Spectacles X Cardputer ADV that enables local, server-free writing through BLE HID keyboard input. The open-source project supports persistent note-taking by storing entries in Org-mode agenda format, with planned future updates to expand BLE capabilities such as improved bonding support as the API evolves.
