Hi Tomas! Please, tell us something about yourself.

I am a creator from LATAM. I started to create effects about a year ago and have focused mostly on Instagram though I sometimes create things for Facebook. I’m a freelancer and I like to experiment and build things which few or none have built before.

How many effects have you created so far and for which platforms?

More than 26 effects, all for Instagram and Facebook.

Name the best effects you created and briefly describe them.

Butterfly Swarm: This effect uses advanced simulations to recreate a flock of butterflies which can be placed around a users head (selfie camera) or in the user’s world (back camera).

Recursive Flow: This effect is an advanced shader that extracts the motion information from an image and uses it to create different visualizations.

Which platform for creating AR filters is your favourite and why?

Instagram. Because it’s the one I use the most and where I connect with all the people I like.

What in your opinion makes an AR effect successful?

With so many people on the platform it’s hard to come up with a simple rule of thumb, but I tend to create stuff I like and not care too much about what people will think, if you make something thinking about what other people will say about it then you are not being yourself.
